Joseph DuMouchelle explores rising untreated sapphire prices

With the value of untreated sapphires rocketing, qualified gemologist Joseph DuMouchelle takes a closer look at the market.

DALLAS , TEXAS, USA, April 30, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Commanding prices as much as 80 percent or more higher than their counterparts, 'untreated' sapphires, as they're known, are rocketing in value. A graduate gemologist, appraiser, and auctioneer, jewelry expert Joseph DuMouchelle offers a closer look at the market for these rare, untreated gemstones.

Explaining so-called gemstone 'treatments,' Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association international board member and former head of the Accredited Gemologists Association Joseph DuMouchelle reveals that any process beyond cutting and polishing a stone for color, clarity, or durability falls into this bracket, also known as 'enhancing' gemstones.

"Treatments and enhancements are common in the gemstone market," DuMouchelle explains, "and may be carried out in order to improve the appearance or wearability and durability of a stone."

"However," he continues, "it's extremely important to consider the potential value implications prior to applying treatments or enhancements to any gemstone."

According to DuMouchelle, particularly desirable natural gems, such as sapphires, routinely command as much as a 50 percent or more premium over their enhanced counterparts. "Natural sapphires command significantly higher prices today than treated or enhanced examples," the expert reveals, "despite those which have undergone radiation exposure and heat treatments, for example, often being visually more appealing and colorful in many people's opinions."

Indeed, the International Gem Society suggests that mid-quality untreated blue sapphires will sell for approximately 30 percent more than a treated stone of equal quality. "Top quality untreated stones, though," adds DuMouchelle, "especially if they're large, have recently commanded premiums of 80 percent and above, and it's a premium which is rising."

Naturally colored sapphires get their range of hues from traces of chromium, iron, titanium, and other elements found deep underground.

Beyond heat treatments and radiation exposure, other forms of enhancement available in the industry involve dyeing, coating, fracture filling, diffusion treatments, and oiling. "Aside from oiling, all of these processes are permanent," DuMouchelle explains, wrapping up, "so it's crucial to consider the value implications before going ahead with any such process, especially when taking sapphires and other similarly rare or desirable gemstones into consideration."

Joseph DuMouchelle is co-founder and president of Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers, LLC. Established over a decade ago by DuMouchelle and his partner, Melinda Adducci, the business now boasts locations in New York, Michigan, and Florida. As an international auction house, Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers holds vintage diamond, signed jewelry, and timepiece auctions year-round, selling to clients worldwide. Experts in vintage signed jewelry and rare, colored gemstones, the business has also successfully handled and sold unique pieces from significant collections and belonging to famous faces including Marla Maples and Nat King Cole.

On April 4 2019, the Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA), organized an emergency awareness and preparedness seminar for its members and 25 barangays.

— Angelita Lee; President, Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA)

ANTIPOLO CITY, RIZAL, PHILIPPINES, April 29, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — “We need our people to lead and embrace change. It’s going to be about increased productivity, efficiency and being more sustainable and responsive in a social and environmental sense. It’s about embracing disruption, not fearing it.” – Angelita Lee; President, Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA) & Vice President, Rapid City Realty and Development Corp.

To create a strong safety culture in medium to high risk professions such as quarrying and mining, behaviour- based transformation is necessary. On April 4 2019, the Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA), together with 245 participants from different companies and 25 barangays within the province of Rizal attended an emergency awareness and preparedness seminar at the Ynares Event Center in Antipolo City, Rizal.

In line with celebrating its 23rd Anniversary, Lee invited as one of its speakers, Disaster Risk Reduction and Management (DRRM) doctor, Teofredo ‘Ted’ T. Esguerra, or popularly known as ‘Everest Doc’.

Esguerra is the medical member of the elite medical rescue team: The Specialized Medical Assistance Response Team (SMART) of the Philippine Coast Guard, who specializes on High Altitude Medicine, Wilderness EMS, and Air Medical Evacuation. Aside from being an accomplished flight surgeon, Esguerra was also the Expedition & Wilderness Emergency Medical Services Physician of the Philippine Mt. Everest Expedition Team, hence the name “Everest Doc”.

Quite the speaker for an audience composed of quarry operators and miners!

Close to an advocacy, Esguerra drills down to his rapt audience the need to be prepared even before a calamity strikes. Esguerra says “disaster preparedness is a skill that shouldn’t just be taught in our workplaces. It should start from the home. For a country that is scourged with yearly calamities, it is crucial that we are equipped with life skills in the most literal sense of the word!”

More than just an association

Aside from its annual safety awareness and fire prevention seminars, Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA) has spearheaded and continue to maintain the ‘Agro-Forestry Project’ (Reforestation) under former President Aquino’s National Greening Program, and established a school in partnership with TESDA, called the Rizal Quarry Academy, Inc., that offers technical skill courses suited for those engaged in the mining and quarrying industry wherein the Development of Mining Technology and Geosciences (DMTG) of Rizal Quarry operators are being used as its fund.

Founded with the mission of promoting the optimum utilization of the country’s natural resources through sustainable development, the Eastern Rizal Miners Association (ERMA) is a group of quarry operators and miners who have coordinated efforts among mining associations, groups, individuals, and other mining entities.

Duterte’s ‘Build Build Build program’ and a responsible quarrying industry

Quarry products provide the basis for our transport network – roads, railways and airports – and for our water and sewerage systems. Without quarries, we would not have the stone, gravel and sand that go into any form of construction. Stone is an essential component, therefore quarries underpin a country's ongoing development and play a vital role in a nation's economy.

It goes without saying that the Philippines needs an effective quarrying industry to supply us with vital materials necessary for our economy. Furthermore, there is a need for responsible and professional practitioners to operate quarries in a way that is safe, productive and good for our environment. The demand for aggregates will get colossal in the months to come, especially under the Duterte administration.

Infrastructure, being one of the top priorities of President Rodrigo Duterte’s Administration with public spending on infrastructure projects targeted to reach 8-9 trillion pesos from ‎2017-2022, is an ambitious program that can be achieved if the players involved in the supply chain are: physically and mentally fit, equipped to perform their tasks in a safe environment, and are professionally trained. Groups such as the Eastern Rizal Miners Association is one of the organizations that try to do their part in helping make this vision a reality.

This event was also attended by Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB) Calabarzon representative Socorro Hernandez, Provincial Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (PDRRMO) Officer Mr. Loel Malonzo and Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) Officer Nathaniel Ladia, with media partner Ka Felix Tambongco of DZRJ.

ERMA’s member companies include Republic Cement & Building Materials, Inc.,Solid Cement Corporation, LaFarge Holcim Aggregates, Inc., Rapid City Realty and Development Corporation, Teresa Marble Corporation, Hardrock Aggregates Corporation, Gozon Development Corporation, Monte Rock Corporation, A.C. Equities, Inc., Millex Construction & Development Corp., LDD Drilling and Blasting Management Consultancy, Inc., Orica Philippines, Nitro Asia Company, Inc., Delta Earthmoving Drilling and Blasting Management Group, B.M. Explosives, Inc. and Equirent, Inc.

Current ERMA Officers are President – Angelita Lee, VP for Internal Affairs – Annie Dee, VP for External Affairs – Rafael Baldueza, Secretary – Vicente Pulvinar, Asst. Secretary – Christian Neis, Treasurer – Luisa Noche, Asst. Treasurer – Lolita Robles, Auditor – Ariel Yson, PRO – Gil Castro, Cherry White Tan, Mann Mercado, Raymond Gatlabayan, and Advisers – Veronica Lee, Louie Sarmiento, Ed Dacanay.

Joseph DuMouchelle reveals growing demand for vintage signed jewelry at auction

Joseph DuMouchelle

Joseph DuMouchelle

Jewelry expert Joseph DuMouchelle offers a closer look at increasing demand for vintage signed jewelry at auction in the U.S. and globally.

DALLAS, TEXAS, USA, April 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ —
In much the same way that fine art is signed by artists, quite often, so is exceptionally well-made jewelry, with signed pieces marked with a signature which denotes the designer, maker, or manufacturer. Particularly desirable among vintage pieces, demand for signed jewelry at auction has never been higher, according to experienced jeweler and qualified gemologist Joseph DuMouchelle.

"Vintage signed jewelry has never been more sought-after or in higher demand at auction," reveals DuMouchelle, an estate buyer, graduate gemologist, appraiser, auctioneer, and co-founder and president of Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers, LLC.

Easily identified by experts such as DuMouchelle, styles of signature or means of marking signed jewelry can vary, particularly with vintage pieces. "With the appropriate magnifying glass, known as a loupe, it's possible to both identify a signature and to get a valuable, closer look at a particular piece of jewelry," he explains.

While looking for a signature, there's also the opportunity to look for other, interesting hallmarks, such as whether the piece is 18k or 24k gold, for example, according to DuMouchelle. "Learning to read different, particularly vintage signatures is an excellent way to give oneself the upper hand in dealing with vintage jewelry," adds the expert and Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers co-founder.

From vintage Cartier art deco brooches to 1960s diamond-embellished Tiffany rings, pieces of vintage signed jewelry are today commanding higher prices than ever before at auctions throughout the United States and around the world. "Prewar, postwar, and mid-century pieces of signed jewelry from top brands and designers have become increasingly sought-after in the last decade," DuMouchelle explains, "both here in the U.S. and internationally."

Vintage signed pieces from jewelers and luxury retailers such as Tiffany & Co. and Italian designer brand Bulgari, as well as Van Cleef & Arpels, French luxury goods conglomerate Cartier, and American jeweler Harry Winston have all commanded record or near-record auction prices in recent years.

"Demand only looks set to increase from here on out," suggests DuMouchelle, wrapping up, "so there's never been a better time to buy or, arguably, sell vintage signed jewelry, particularly at auction."

A member of the international board for the Gemological Institute of America Alumni Association and former head of the Accredited Gemologists Association, Joseph DuMouchelle is co-founder and president of Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers, LLC. Established over a decade ago by DuMouchelle and his partner, Melinda 'Lindy' Adducci, the business now boasts locations in New York, Michigan, and Florida. As an international auction house, Joseph DuMouchelle Fine & Estate Jewellers holds vintage diamond, signed jewelry, and timepiece auctions year-round, selling to clients in more than 80 countries worldwide. Experts in vintage signed jewelry and rare, colored stones, the business has also successfully handled and sold unique pieces from major collections and belonging to famous individuals including Marla Maples and Nat King Cole.

Understanding Pre-Existing Conditions & Workers’ Compensation

Saffren and Weinberg - Personal Injury Attorneys

At Saffren and Weinberg, Marc Alan Weinberg, Attorney and Kenneth Scott Saffren, Attorney are partners. The firm’s tagline is “The People’s Voice In Court.”

PHILADELPHIA, PA, UNITED STATES, April 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — ++

Pre-Existing Conditions & Workers’ Compensation

Many workers find themselves hurt on the job or victims of a workplace accident, and they may be eligible for workers’ compensation. But, many may find their workers’ compensation claims denied due to a pre-existing condition.

Injuries due to pre-existing conditions are not eligible for workers’ compensation benefits. However, if the injury was not directly caused by the pre-existing condition then it may still be eligible for workers’ compensation benefits.

If you have a pre-existing medical condition that you believe may deny you your workers’ comp claim or have been denied workers’ compensation wrongly because of your pre-existing condition, it is worth finding a Philadelphia workers’ compensation lawyer to help you explore your options.

What is a Pre-Existing Condition?

The definition of a pre-existing condition in workers’ compensation law is a previous medical condition or an aggravation of a pre-existing condition. It can be a personal injury, but typically it’s an old injury that happened to you in the past as long as it affects your ability to work, such as a long-term back injury like a herniated disc or a repetitive motion injury like carpal tunnel syndrome.

This is a very wide definition that can include a variety of medical claims and conditions, and therefore as a worker, it is important to be aware of the kinds of injuries you receive and the medical conditions you may have.

The kind of coverage and benefits workers’ compensation gives varies heavily depending on the origin of the pre-existing condition. Generally, if the condition is due to a previous work-related injury, which you are receiving workers’ compensation for, then it will often be permitted to receive additional workers’ compensation if it is further aggravated or has contributed to another condition.

However, if the condition is one that is not related to a prior workers’ compensation claim but rather has contributed to your current injury, then whether you will receive workers’ compensation becomes a complicated question.

It is important to receive a medical examination and medical care whether your pre-existing condition or injury was related to workers’ compensation or not. A doctor, particularly one skilled and experienced in workers’ injuries, will often know the kinds of terms to use and the facts to look for.

However, if your condition is completely unrelated to your work and was not proven to contribute to any current injuries, workers’ compensation will not be able to pay for medical treatment directly. Workers’ compensation will only pay for a new injury sustained on the job, either unrelated to the pre-existing condition or ones that may have been aggravated by it.

If you have a pre-existing condition, normally your health insurance will be the one paying for it, as long as it doesn’t contribute to an injury on the job.

Pre-Existing Condition Example for Workers’ Compensation

Assume, for example, that you are a construction worker and have been injured from falling off a roof. You now are applying for workers’ compensation benefits and want to know how to best present your case, as well as what your chances are.

In Pennsylvania, the formal process of filing a claim includes notifying your employer and having their insurance company process your claim and pay your disability benefits.

However, it often isn’t that easy, as the insurance company will challenge the claim, whereupon you may need to go to the state government to settle it before a workers’ compensation judge.

Either way, the success of your claim will depend on both the injury/condition and the cause of it.

Suppose that you permanently damaged your back from a fall off the roof. If you were on the roof for the purpose of doing work for your employer, and in the process of doing that work, it is very likely that your injury satisfies the workers’ compensation requirement that the injury was sustained during the course of employment.

However, if your back was already weak from previous injuries or back conditions, that may pose a pre-existing condition challenge to your claim. If your back was weak from having previously fallen off a roof while employed and received benefits for it, you may still receive benefits for it again.

In contrast, if your back was especially weak or already showing signs of breaking down, the insurance claim may be much harder to process.

That is why it is important to work with a well-trained work injury lawyer to prepare your case and give your claim the best possible chance of success.

What is Workers’ Compensation?

Workers’ compensation is a program that many employees have heard of, but few know the workers’ compensation facts that may be essential to helping them secure their benefits. Particularly for workers with pre-existing conditions or injuries, understanding what workers’ compensation is and how it works in Pennsylvania is crucial.

Essentially, workers compensation is a state-administered program that provides you compensation for a workplace injury. Each state runs their own insurance program. Pennsylvania runs its workers’ compensation program uniquely, as it administers its state’s workers compensation fully through the Compensation Rating Bureau and relies on private insurance carriers to initially process, evaluate, and pay claims.

Pennsylvania maintains a workers’ compensation fund, but generally, that is only used when there are disputes between the employer, insurance carrier, and injured employee regarding benefits and claims. These insurance carriers will then charge employers premiums for workers’ compensation insurance.

Even if you are partly or totally injured or disabled, workers’ compensation benefits remain possible in Pennsylvania. It is important to work with a lawyer in the region you are in, such as a Philadelphia workers’ compensation lawyer or otherwise, to explore your condition and plan your claim. This is even more important if you have a pre-existing condition.

While the workers’ compensation facts may be confusing initially, the system nonetheless serves many thousands of Pennsylvanians each year who have been injured on the job, even those with a pre-existing injury.

Is Pennsylvania Friendly to Pre-Existing Conditions or Workers’ Compensation?

Pennsylvania is one of the more generous states for workers compensation payments and benefits. In 2016, Pennsylvania ranked 17th out of 50 states. However, this was lower than its 12th place ranking in 2012. Furthermore, Pennsylvania pays 8% more than the national average for workers compensation.

While rankings for pre-existing conditions are not available, an overall friendly environment for workers’ compensation is a positive indicator.

I have a Pre-Existing Condition and Want Workers’ Compensation, How do I get it?

The general process for filing your claim for workers’ compensation benefits in Pennsylvania is informing your employer and attempting to get their insurance carrier to pay. If the claim is denied, you can appeal to the state and its judges.

However, many workers will find they want the services of a work injury lawyer to help them navigate the extremely complex legal proceedings as well as present their case in the best light.

I’m ready to file a claim. What’s next?

If you believe you have been injured on the job and are ready to file a claim for workers’ compensation or have had a workers’ compensation claim denied because of a prior injury for which it was not the cause, then it is worth contacting a law firm that specializes in workers’ comp benefits to discuss your case.

LONDON, GREATER LONDON, UK, April 24, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — Asia-Pacific was the largest region in the global coal mining market, with almost 78% of the market. This can be attributed to the presence of large coal reserves in China, India and Australia. China and India are one of the largest producers and consumers of coal in the world. Japan is a major importer of coal. Countries in Asia-Pacific significantly depend on coal for power generation and steel production. This high growth in the coal mining market can be attributed to technological advances in the power generation industry.

Coal mining is the process of extraction of coal from the ground. Coal is a combustible rock, composed of lithified plant remains and contains macerals, minerals and water. It is formed by the alteration of dead plant material that initially accumulates as a surficial deposit of peat and is then buried beneath layers of younger sediment. As the temperature rises, due to increasing depth of burial, the initial peat is sequentially altered by the process of coalification through brown coals such as lignite and sub-bituminous coal, to black coals or hard coals such as bituminous coal and anthracite.

The coal mining industry includes establishments involved in mining of bituminous market, sub-bituminous market, lignite and anthracite coal by underground mining, strip mining, culm bank mining, and other surface mining techniques. ATS Announces General Services Agreement Government Contract Signing

ATS

ATS ShieldSafe Logo

GSA Contract signing allows ATS to expand their services to all government entities; this is the next step in many partnerships to come as Stewards of Humanity.

This is a strategic move that allows us to secure contracts for safety in order to make the SafetyShield products available for all government entities.”

— Richard Allred

MIDVALE, UT, UNITED STATES, April 23, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — ATS ShieldSafe®, located in Midvale and Pleasant Grove, UT is thrilled to announce the signing of the Federal Government’s GSA contract that makes it possible for ATS to sell to the U.S. government through the General Services Agreement, instead of having separate contracts with each agency.

ATS ShieldSafe offers built-to-last safety showers that are fully ANSI compliant – offering optimal protection for workers in all weather conditions.

A process that has been two years in the making, Richard Allred, CEO of ATS, had this to say about the contract: “This is a strategic move that allows us to secure contracts for safety in order to make the SafetyShield products available for all government entities.” To be approved, the GSA needed to analyze sales data and ensure the updating all the equipment, as well as intense scrutiny from the GSA to ensure their products are of interest to a vast number of government agencies. “This is the next step in our many partnerships with U.S. government entities and continue to expand water technologies, water treatment chemistry, and other products and services. It also provides a worldwide reach to government entities outside the U.S,” he added.

ATS Director of Administrative Services, Ashley McIntosh, has worked hard to secure the GSA contract signing and it’s paid off. She began working towards the GSA contract back in 2017 and went through a rigorous process. “We had to wait quite a while after we submitted all the paperwork until we received a response back. Fortunately, the State of Utah is very supportive in helping small businesses, like us, succeed. They provide a couple of different companies to help us in acquiring a GSA contract.” It takes time and sometimes, due to different challenges, approval doesn’t come quickly. “Once the government replies, there’s a negotiation process and the assurance that nothing has changed,” she stated. However, much did change regarding the products we offered from the beginning of the process, as well as with the GSA requirements under our specific Schedule. McIntosh then had to go through most of the process all over again with our new products and with the government “refresh.”

The government approved the contract on March 15. Now the hard work begins of selling off the contract and getting the word out. This contract applies to ATS ShieldSafe® products, including decontamination showers and accompanying accessories, and we can renew this contract every five years through 2039.
GSA provides over 11 million products to the federal agencies and it is ATS’s job to market to federal agencies who could benefit from our product. “It’s like Amazon for the government, where they purchase products and we ship it out.” Anyone in the government can buy the products without the need to bid.

Allred, in an email to the company, said, “I would like to acknowledge McIntosh’s hard work as well as all the many who have helped in this undertaking.”

GSA Contract Number: 47QSWA19D004Q

Cold Winter Brings Good Fortune for Temporary Heating Equipment

United States Temporary Heating Equipment Market

North American Temporary Heating Equipment Market Report

Anthony Miller, Verify Markets

Verify Markets B2B Market Research and Consulting

Market growth has been predominantly driven by the construction industry demand and cold weather conditions.

The single biggest driver for temporary heat is cold weather, but great growth in construction has brought opportunity to pre-recession levels.”

— Verify Markets' Managing Partner Anthony Miller

SAN ANTONIO, TEXAS, UNITED STATES, April 18, 2019 /EINPresswire.com/ — A new analysis by Verify Markets shows the North American temporary heating equipment market was valued at approximately $720 million in 2018 and is expected to reach over a $1 billion in revenue by 2025.

Market growth has been predominantly driven by the construction industry demand and cold weather conditions. Cold weather and increased construction opportunity have been beneficial for both the United States and Canada. Construction demand has been strong, but contractors are more motivated to meet deadlines to avoid penalties and, potentially, gain performance incentives. Cost-plus contract agreements are being substituted by fixed-priced alternatives including penalties with the possibility of performance incentives. Furthermore, there has been favorable growth in the oil and gas industry in the United States. Conversely, the oil and gas opportunity has been lagging behind in Canada, severely hurting long-term growth potential. Nonetheless, there are new applications for temporary heat continually discovered.

In recent years, the United States has ramped up the production of oil, natural gas, and other energy products, while the prices in Canada have dropped. The Canadian oil industry is a major contributor to export earnings and largest shareholder of the country’s energy sector. This oil industry has been battered by persistent price discounts, increased government-imposed costs, a complicated regulatory environment, and lack of new infrastructure projects.

According to National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) data, in the last decade, the US has seen 4 years of record-breaking warmth over a 6-month period from October to March of the following year. The 2018-2019 season was particularly kind to the heating industry, as it has ranked as the 33rd coldest winter on file over a 124-year period. Minimum and maximum temperature ranges have been steadily rising over the last decade. The frequency weather extremities appear to be increasing, presumably due to climate change, and have appeared to push winter season opportunity well into April. “The single biggest driver for temporary heat is cold weather, but great growth in construction has brought opportunity to pre-recession levels”, states Verify Markets' Managing Partner Anthony Miller. “Concerns regarding climate change have really hurt heating opportunity in oil & gas, particularly in Canada. Though there are many new applications for identified regularly and equipment utilization rates are up.”

The temporary heating equipment market report has been segmented by fuel type, heater type (direct-fired, indirect-fired, hydronic/ground thaw, flameless, electric, and steam), application, output power, stationary vs. portable, customer vertical, and rental company revenue. Main customers include oil and gas, refining, industrial, mining, emergency, events, and construction. Some of the key companies featured in the report include Aggreko, Herc Rentals, United Rentals, Sunbelt Rentals, the Caterpillar dealership network, Construction Heaters, Inc. (CHI), Titan Machinery, Resolute Industrial, and Cahill Heating, among others. This report provides an in-depth analysis of the overall temporary heating market in the United States and Canada. The report also captures market commentary and information on market dynamics like growth drivers, restraints, market revenues and forecasts, technology trends, and the competitive landscape.
